THE FACTS – On Saturday night, June 6th, state and judicial police arbitrarily arrested defender Kenia Inés Hernández M. along with three underage youth, at the "Hortaliza-Valle de Bravo" toll booth in the State of Mexico after two workers at the booth and two agents of the State of Mexico prevented them from passing. Then eight more patrol trucks arrived, and their agents arrested the defenders in violation of due process.

The defender Kenia Inés Hernandez was taken to the Chiconautla prison in Ecatepec, State of México, where she is still being deprived of her freedom.

We of the National Network of Women Human Rights Defenders in Mexico, ProDESC, CIMAC and IM-Defensoras demand the immediate release of the defender, who has been a beneficiary of the Federal Mechanism for the Protection of Human Rights Defenders and Journalists since 2019, and respect for her human rights and physical, moral and psychological integrity.
