Marta Sánchez Soler and Morena Herrera #WHRDs #WomenWhoInspireUs

Marta Sánchez Soler, President of the Mesoamerican Migrant Movement, and Morena Herrera, founder of the Feminist Collective for Local Development in El Salvador, both of whom are members of IM-Defensoras, have been included by the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) on a list of the 100 most influential and inspiring women on the planet.

For those of us in IM-Defensoras, it is a privilege to have them as comrades and role models in the feminist struggle for human rights in the different spheres in which they work. Their example and commitment make all of us stronger, and they are an inspiration for us to keep on learning and struggling.

This richly deserved recognition of the work of both women also represents an opportunity to visibilize the way in which the collective work of women human rights defenders is basic in our societies and an indispensable contribution towards advancing on the long road towards gender and social equality and justice.
