About IM-Defensoras
The Mesoamerican Women Human Rights Defenders Initiative (IM-Defensoras) is a local to regional alliance of diverse women human rights defenders (WHRDs), organizations and networks. We currently represent about 2,800 WHRDs and 300 organizations from diverse social movements and territories in the region. IM-Defensoras pursues strategies of Feminist Holistic Protection (FHP) at the local, national, and regional level that help sustain efforts of Mesoamerican WHRDs to defend human rights under conditions of security, well-being, strong leadership, and autonomy. We provide WHRDs and their organizations with access to gender-sensitive and timely protection and empowerment resources, tools to combat gender-based and other forms of violence connected to their work. We operate in five Mesoamerican countries, through national WHRD networks in El Salvador, Honduras, Mexico, and Nicaragua, and among allied WHRD organizations in Guatemala.
Overview of the Position
We are seeking an experienced, bilingual (Spanish – English) professional to provide high quality and accurate technical support in the management of restricted funding projects received by IM-Defensoras. This includes monitoring financial and programmatic implementation, coordinating with the various entities within IM-Defensoras and preparing reports and other donor requirements, ensuring compliance with the deadlines and requirements of each funding.
IM-Defensoras carries out much of its work virtually, so experience and ease working and communicating online are highly valuable. This position requires excellent oral and written fluency in both Spanish and English.
This is a full-time position that would start as soon as possible and is renewable on an annual basis.
Primary Responsibilities
- Management of restricted funding projects in coordination with the Resource Mobilization and Finance-Administration teams and the Co-Executive Directors.
- Monitor programmatic and financial implementation processes of restricted funding projects, in coordination with various entities within the IM-Defensoras (national networks and regional strategy teams.
- Support project expenditure coding processes.
- Coordinate compilation of inputs for project donor reports, according to timeline and donor requirements.
- Coordination and preparation of narrative and financial reports (in English and Spanish) with inputs from regional teams and national networks,
- Support communication and donor relations activities (in English and Spanish).
- Follow up on the Donor-Dialogue process on resources for WHRD protection in Mesoamerica and Latin America.
Qualifications
- A minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience in a resource mobilization and project management position for Mesoamerican feminist, women’s and/or human rights organizations.
- Extensive experience with management and monitoring of programming and financial implementation of restricted projects from various types of donors (Spanish State, Dutch Government, Logical Framework), experience in preparing reports to donors.
- Proven problem-solving experience, with good analytical skills, judgment and ability to think strategically; discretion and ability to handle confidential matters.
- Excellent working knowledge of Spanish and English; good writing and communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and proactively to meet multiple deadlines, at times under pressure.
- Post-secondary education, preferably in topics related to women’s rights, political-social context in Mesoamerica, resource mobilization or management.
- Commitment to women’s human rights and social justice.
Location: we are looking for a person who could work from home, based preferably in a Mesoamerican country .
